💜Purple reunion💜
After 10 weeks of no training, we finally got the go-ahead of the student sport centre with help of the ESSF to start our training again! Right away, more than 30 Gauls joined and shed some sweat while observing that their speed had randomly disappeared.

To prevent the spread of the Coronas in Gaul land, multiple precautions were made to keep the needed distance:
•To join a training session, Gauls need to sign-up beforehand;
•The group was split into multiple smaller groups with different starting times;
•Dressing rooms and toilets were closed (the toilet bit is very annoying);
•Overtaking during the intervals had to be done in lane 4 (which made the distance of a lap longer, resulting in being even more knackered...).
Despite these precautions not being ideal, we managed to make it work and are all happy we can train again 🙌.

We hope to see everybody again on Wednesday! (do not forget to sign up)

4 Gauls challenged themselves this weekend with the #Coronasolo10k. Each Gaul had to motivate themselves for this long distance race against the clock.

Nitin had some luck as he had some cows and chickens as spectators. This helped him go fast and win some nice Strava medals. Harry and Finn were bit too excited at the start and had to pay that back a bit later. Still they managed to survive the 10k and finish with impressive times.

The team pictures of the online Batavierenrace 2020!💜

With a lot of rain, some illness, a lot of wind (not always bad hehe), some hills in the southernmost of the Netherlands (also not always bad), we ran a total of 300 km this weekend. Despite not being together, we managed to form a strong team and ran fast times.💪

Some interesting facts and figures of this race:

'Team Eindhoven':
-ran the 125 km in 18 stages ranging from 5 till 10 km.
-The team consisted of 12 men and 6 women, with 6 nationalities.
-We took 8:00:58 to run the 125km, this translates to an average pace of 15.6 km/h!
-The fastest runner ran 3:06/km (19.3 km/h) on a 10 km stage 😱.

Team 'Asterix en de sexy beesten':
-ran the 125 km in 19 stages ranging from 3 till 15 km.
-The team consisted of 11 men and 8 women.
-The total running time was 9:32:31, which translates to an average speed of 13.1 km/h.
-The fastest runner in this team had a speed of 18.23 km/h over 6 km.

We hope all participants had an amazing time. We're already looking forward to representing Eindhoven in the (hopefully non-virtual) Batavierenrace 2021!

The 48th edition of the Batavierenrace has officially started today! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️This year’s edition is not the same as usual, there are no new ‘Team Eindhoven’ shirts and jumpers, will be no passing over of vests, no sleeping on a floor in a Scouting buiding, no running in the middle of the night, no after party, no traditional Chinese takeaway after the race (so no traditional Chinese takeaway leftovers for breakfast the next morning…).

This year, we join with two teams. Each team member runs and records a distance individually and sends it to the team captain who bundles the runs together and sends it off to the Batavierenrace. Not as fun, but still nice to have some form of a Batavierenrace this year.

To all participants: Good luck!💪
As you can see, we have participated in the Batavierenrace for quite some time now.

There will be a team picture of 2020, but just in a different form #staytuned.
